Event Description:
The Digital Skills Workshop for Youth is a full-day program designed to introduce young learners to essential digital competencies that are vital in today’s technology-driven world. Organized by Ordina’Coeurs Pour L’Afrique, the workshop targets students aged 14 to 22 and aims to bridge the digital skills gap while fostering creativity, problem-solving, and innovation.

The day begins at 9:00 AM with a welcome session where participants are introduced to the objectives of the workshop and the significance of digital literacy in education and career development. Facilitators provide an overview of the global digital divide and the impact of technology on social and economic opportunities, highlighting how access to computers can transform communities.

From 9:30 AM to 11:00 AM, participants engage in interactive sessions on basic computer skills, including navigating operating systems, word processing, and spreadsheet management. Hands-on exercises allow students to practice typing, document formatting, and simple data analysis, ensuring that the theoretical content is immediately applicable.

A short coffee break from 11:00 AM to 11:30 AM allows participants to network and discuss their experiences. Following the break, the program focuses on creative digital tools from 11:30 AM to 1:00 PM. Students learn to create presentations, posters, and digital art using free software applications, encouraging creativity and visual communication skills.

After lunch, from 2:00 PM to 3:30 PM, participants attend an interactive coding session designed for beginners. Facilitators introduce basic programming concepts and practical exercises that demonstrate how technology can be used to solve real-world problems. The session emphasizes logic, critical thinking, and collaborative problem-solving.

From 3:30 PM to 4:30 PM, the workshop transitions into a group project segment. Students work in small teams to develop simple digital solutions for hypothetical community challenges, integrating the skills they have learned throughout the day. Mentors provide guidance, feedback, and encouragement, emphasizing teamwork and practical application.

The workshop concludes with a closing session from 4:30 PM to 5:00 PM. Participants showcase their projects, share reflections on the day, and receive certificates of participation. The closing session also includes a discussion about how students can continue developing digital skills and engage in community initiatives to make technology accessible to more people.

The Digital Skills Workshop for Youth is more than a training session; it is a comprehensive learning experience designed to empower young minds with the tools and knowledge to thrive in a digital world. Through hands-on activities, collaborative projects, and expert guidance, participants leave with newfound confidence and a sense of responsibility to use technology for education, creativity, and community development.
